Xi Li (Cici) was born in Suzhou, China and now lives in San Francisco. After Xi got her Industrial Design Bachelor degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Xi decided to move to west coast and resumed her passion in fine-art photography while working as a 3d designer at Apple (currently freelancing for the photo/content team). At the very beginning, Xi was influenced by her study of 3d objects and their environments. Touches, boundaries and relationships in between objects become the main focus in her works. As a photographer and photo artist, Xi is fascinated by ordinary objects and creates new aesthetic ways of viewing and composing these objects. Xi believes that art creates new space and photography extends thinking. Constructing images from items found in arm’s reach, Xi shoots visualized, non-documentary photos that are respectful of objects themselves, yet seeking oddities from their intrinsic nature. Xi also loves shooting street scenes while she is not building her little world in her studio.
